Mr Thomas is a senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington) a position he has held for 15 years. He is also training programme director for the faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) in London.

 

His elective practice is in lower limb knee, shin, foot and ankle problems. He sub-specialises in arthritis of the knee and ankle, performing a variety of both joint replacement and arthroscopic procedures for these conditions.

 

In addition, he sees and treats a variety of soft tissue and sports related injuries of the knee, foot and ankle. Also more chronic problems such as anterior knee pain, bunions and Morton’s neuroma of the foot. Mr Thomas has a sub-specialist interest in lower limb pain and overuse injuries such as Achilles and patella tendon problems caused by running or high impact gym exercises, and shin splints with causes such as stress injuries to the tibia or soft tissue in the lower leg.

 

Mr Thomas works closely with sports physicians, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists and radiologists where necessary. He has worked with variety of professional sportsmen and women in many different sports and is the Match Day Orthopaedic Surgeon for the English RFU at Twickenham.
